The Future of Simply Sweet Moments Photography

I'm excited to announce, starting next year I will be changing my photography name to Alaina Nunez Photography! I still love Simply Sweet Moments because I feel it embodies how I feel about the moments that I capture of my clients, friends and family during our sessions together.

So the reason behind the name change? Well, there are a few but I think the number one reason is, when people see my photography name on an image, I want them to know who the photographer is behind the name. When I see an image and think "Wow what a great shot!" and see the name is "Some Lovely Name - Photography" I'm always left thinking, "I wonder who the photographer is?" Not that anything is wrong with using another name besides your name, it's perfectly fine actually. I just I love getting to know my clients so I can provide them with a personalized experience as much as possible. I think it helps me create beautiful memories that are about them and not just pretty pictures that have nothing to do with who they are. I like the creating pictures that truly capture the person. I also don't want to be some stranger behind the camera. I want everyone who trusts me with documenting their memories to be comfortable and confident that they will be taken care of.

I use to have 3 blogs! Yes 3! One for my family (I still have it but don't post on it all that much), one for my Simply Sweet Moments families and one for couples and weddings. I want to have everything in one spot! I want to be a good steward of my time and provide the best service I possibly can to all my photography families.

I will also be offering more Family Photo Walks and Camera Basics workshops and classes, as well as Motherhood Memories sessions; which will be better suited under Alaina Nunez Photography.

So that is what I'm looking forward to in 2016 and I wanted to share the news with you! What do you think?

Happy Adoption Day! {Day in the Life - documentary photographer, Alaina Nunez}

I realized that I never finished this blog post about the day my nephew became "officially" adopted! My excuse... I had a 1 month old... I know, I know, it's not a good one. ;)

He is seriously the sweetest little guy and we all love him so much!

He joined their (our) family when he was only a few days old and then he was 16 months old when Manriquez became his last name.

I mean, look at that sweet face!
All the monkeys, I mean boys, in the tree.
Hanging out with cousins, papa and sister

He loves our baby Charlotte

We're so thankful for you little man!

Love,
Auntie

Millie's Birth Story {Home Birth}

I love documenting the birth day of the a precious babe who is surrounded by so much love.

Last Sunday I received a text in the early morning that labor had begun but by mid morning the contractions became inconsistent and actually grew further apart. I kept my phone on me and at 3pm the call came in from Tammi's husband Kurt that her contractions were 5 minutes apart but the last were 3 minutes apart and the midwife and doula were on their way so I said, "ok I'll leave right now".

Tammi was planning on using a birthing tub but when I got there she had changed her mind about being in the water. A bit of time passed and she went with the suggestion of sitting in their jacuzzi for some pain relief. It was such a relief she decided that would be the best place to stay and have her sweet baby girl.

Tammi is amazing! Even right up until she birthed sweet Millie she was still smiling.

Lindsey and the midwife team at OC Midwifery are wonderful and Cathy of Doula by the Sea was such a great support for Tammi and Kurt. I can't say enough great things about all of them!

Tammi's mom was thrilled that she was able to watch her strong daughter birth her granddaughter. She had missed the birth of their first daughter as Tammi went into labor early and she couldn't catch a flight fast enough from the east coast.

I always feel so honored to be invited into such an intimate moment!

Tammi and Kurt, thank you and I pray for many blessings for your family!

Mr and Mrs Chavez {Couples Session}

 A couple weeks ago I met Vinny and Irene at a nature place that felt more like fall. Those who are in Southern California know that it doesn't usually feel like fall in September. They will be celebrating 6 years of married life at the end of this month (which also happens to be my birthday). Irene told me they had never had professional portraits done together, not even on their wedding day.

I am so glad she contacted me!

They are such a sweet couple!

Oh my goodness, Irene's ring is just beautiful! Super elegant and I love that it has that vintage/timeless look!

Irene wrote me a beautiful thank you that I will always treasure.

I love this gift that I have been given to be able to freeze time for just the moment. I am truly blessed by each of my clients who are more like friends and I know that God brings each of them into my life at the perfect time.

Thank you guys!

Blessings,
Alaina
